Roger Post, Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Roger is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Best Execution and Surveillance solutions aka Best X stats, “BXS“. Best Execution and Surveillance Solutions LLC. was founded in 2015. BXS is a technology firm servicing the Financial Industry, specializing in Post Trade Analytics for Equities and options, known in the industry as “ Best Execution” as well as in the Trade Surveillance space both regulated by the SEC and Finra.
Prior to founding “ BXS “, in 2009 Roger joined the Transaction Auditing Group, “ TAG “ as the Executive Vice President. The firm analyzed Trading activity for the financial industry. He became the acting CEO in 2012 and successfully positioned the company for acquisition and subsequently consummated a sale in 2014 to a publically traded company.
Before TAG in 1998 Roger acquired Edward T. Minor co, a residential and commercial heating oil and HVAC energy business. He sold both Edward T. Minor Co and Building Energy Management in 2008. “Building Energy Management “ had evolved from a carpet cleaning business Roger started in 1976 while in HS, to a facility management company with over 100 employees. In the fall of 1979, Roger took a position on Wall Street at the Commodities Exchange, at 4 World Trade Center with Shearson Hayden and Stone which later became Shearson Lehman Bros. There he continued with a 15 year Wall street career on the trading floors / desks for Rudolph Wolf Commodities, Cowen & Co, and Smith Barney.
Roger L. Post , Born in Athens, Greece in 1961, came to the US in 1964. Attended Adelphi Academy in Bay Ridge Brooklyn for 8 years then transferred and graduated from Fort Hamilton HS in 1979. Attended University of Phoenix Arizona, Kings Borough CC and graduated with a degree in Business Management.
Ben Calev, Founder and Chief Technology Officer
Ben Calev is Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Best Execution and Surveillance Solutions. Along with Roger Post, Ben founded BXS after a 15 year role building the IT infrastructure of TAG (The Transaction Auditing Group) the originator of standardized Best Execution Reporting. While at TAG, Ben was responsible for all database and IT operations as well as stints in Client Services and Software Development.
Having been involved in all aspects of Best Execution Reporting, including the origination of Rule 605/606, Ben has unique and intimate knowledge of the industry. He is both an internal and external resource for standard and customized Best Execution products.
Prior to BXS and TAG, Ben was with INetU, a managed web hosting firm where he managed major accounts, coordinated general operations and implemented technology solutions including data center expansion, accounting system upgrades and strategic platform coordination. Other past positions include Director of Information Services for Integra, a publicly-traded managed behavioral healthcare firm, and Principal of Worldspan Technologies, an internet consulting firm. Ben is a graduate of Ithaca College, Ithaca, NY.
Michael Post, Vice President, Business Development and Strategy
Michael Post is the Vice President of Business Development and Strategy at BXS. Michael currently oversees the sales team as well as business development and strategic initiatives. As a fast growing financial technology firm, BXS continues to innovate by upgrading and tailoring their products and systems to better serve and advance the capital markets community.
Prior to BXS, Michael managed the operations and project management division of Aggressive Energy, an energy and mechanical firm based out of Brooklyn, NY. Michael currently holds a bachelors degree from St. Johns University and an associates degree from Sacred Heart University.
Walter Ferstand, Director of Regulatory and Compliance Reporting
Walter Ferstand is a veteran compliance and regulatory expert with more than 30 years of capital markets experience in the broker/dealer and exchange side of the business. Prior to joining BestXStats, Walter was the Compliance Subject Matter Expert at both Redkite Financial Markets and NICE Actimize. He has also held senior-level compliance positions at Man Financial and Instinet, and served in market operations management capacities during a 10-year tenure with NASDAQ.
Mr. Ferstand specializes in cross-asset electronic and DMA trading requirements, including REG NMS 611, 605 and 606, OATS, TRACE, TRF, and MSRB Compliance Reporting. Mr. Ferstand also has extensive knowledge of the development, forensic testing and risk assessment of compliance programs in accordance with SEC, FINRA, and CFTC rules and regulations, including new and proposed rules.
As a compliance expert, Mr. Ferstand will work closely with BXS clients and prospects to evaluate, educate and advise on compliance requirements, ensuring each firm has the proper solutions to meet their specific business needs. His expertise in designing strategy and implementing strong business practices in accordance with Dodd-Frank and other regulatory initiatives for swaps, fixed income, commodities and equity/option instruments will be a great asset in helping firms develop and author policies and procedures. He will also be hosting frequent webinars on industry subject matter, best execution requirements, as well as SEC- Finra examination priorities.
